THE WOODLANDS DIVERSION YOUNG ARTIST GRANT APPLICATION
OVERVIEW AND ELIGIBILITY:
The purpose of The Woodlands Diversion Young Artist Grant is to provide need-based financial support to students for their fine arts education and/or participation. This application form is for the 2024/2025 academic year. This grant is only for fine arts education and/or participation in programs of music, visual art, dance, theater, et al. Applicants must be between the ages of five and eighteen. Applicants must reside in Montgomery County or be enrolled in a primary, secondary, or home school in Montgomery County for the 2024/2025 academic year.
Grant funds are to only be used for expenses related to the applicant’s education/participation in their fine arts discipline.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICATION SUBMISSION:
1. Please complete the form clearly and completely. All questions must be answered. Do not leave any section blank. If a section does not apply to you, please indicate that it is not applicable (N/A).
2. Application fields marked with (required) are mandatory.
3. When applying for a grant, please make sure that you carefully read and understand the eligibility requirements.
4. Please submit ONE application per applicant.
5. Please ensure that all supporting material (letters of reference, letters of recommendation, financial documents, etc. are included when submitting your application).

APPLICATIONS AND SUPPORTING MATERIALS MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 30, 2024.
SUPPORTING MATERIALS (MUST accompany applications):
A. Guardian’s proof of financial hardship (i.e. account of monthly income vs. expenses, conveying a need for financial support).
B. A minimum of TWO letters of recommendation from the following sources: (1) applicant’s current or past fine arts instructor (i.e. piano teacher, art teacher, band director, etc.), (2) current or past teacher, (3) school principal, and/or (4) school counselor.
C. Report cards or transcripts showing all grades for the 2023/2024 school year (for returning students).
ADDITIONAL MATERIALS (optional):
Although not required, applicants are encouraged to submit examples of their art when applicable, such as photographs of art pieces (paintings, sculptures, etc.), video recordings of performances, etc. Please contact info@thewoodlandsdiversion.org for more information about this.

3. I have read the criteria of the grant and the relevant notes. I confirm that I have enclosed or have arranged to send all required supporting documentation, either via USPS (hard copy) or via email.
When submitting your application and supporting materials via this online form, USPS or via email, please make sure you include:
1. GRANT APPLICATION filled out completely.
2. PROOF OF FINANCIAL HARDSHIP (See SUPPORTING MATERIALS)
3. TWO LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION (See SUPPORTING MATERIALS)
4. ACADEMIC RECORD FOR 2023/2024 SCHOOL YEAR (report card or transcript)
5. EXAMPLES OF ARTWORK (Not required, but encouraged. See ADDITIONAL MATERIALS)
All complete applications received by the deadline will be reviewed and evaluated by a panel of Grant Committee members. The application is the property of and for the exclusive use by The Woodlands Diversion Grant Committee. The letters of recommendation and transcripts will not be returned and will also become property of the Grant Committee.
The Woodlands Diversion Grant Committee has the right to reject any application and/or retract any award during the evaluation, awarding, or post-awarding process. Refusal/retractions may be based on reasons, including, but not limited to nonfactual, incorrect, incomplete, or misleading information provided in the application or misuse of grant funds by grant recipient and/or grant recipient’s guardian.
Grant recipients may be invited to participate in The Woodlands Diversion’s future performances and/or other related events.
